Microsoft has stopped selling Windows 10 licenses online

February 1, 2023

Microsoft has decided to stop selling Windows 10 Home and Windows 10 Pro licenses from its official website.

Windows 10 remains the most popular version of the Windows operating system in use today. As Tom's Hardware reports (, Microsoft plans to end sales of Windows 10 licenses through its website on January 31.

A download license for Windows 10 Home costs $139, while Windows 10 Pro costs $199.99.

Windows 10 will remain supported with security updates that protect your PC from viruses, spyware, and more until October 14, 2025.

This decision does not mean that new licenses for Windows 10 will not be available through other means, but Microsoft will no longer offer it from the official website.

However, you can purchase a license for Windows 11 Home or Windows 11 Pro in the same way and for the same price directly from Microsoft.

By choosing Windows 11, your PC will be using an operating system that is still in active development and therefore has many more years of support, unlike Windows 10.
