Ranking of the world's largest companies

January 12, 2023

2022 turned out to be full of challenges for the global stock market – in one year, the S&P 500 index fell by 16%; The Nasdaq technology index is down by about 28%. This situation indicates that the value of shares of the world's largest companies is falling sharply, which is largely due to the deterioration of the global macroeconomic situation and the record-high inflation.

Compared to previous years, there are several important changes in the global ranking of the largest companies, first of all, the electric car manufacturer Tesla dropped out of the top ten, and it currently occupies the 17th place. The year also ended poorly for Meta, the company that owns Facebook and Instagram, currently in 20th place instead of the top ten.

Against the backdrop of a sharp increase in the price of energy resources worldwide, the largest American energy company - Exxon Mobil - appeared in the top ten.

At the top of the ranking is the American technology giant Apple with a capitalization of $2 trillion, which in 2022 gave up the first place to Saudi Aramco for a few months, although by the end of the year it still managed to return to the leading position.
