August 27, 2021

The Japanese technological corporation Sony released an improved version of the new generation gaming console PlayStation 5. The sale of the device has already started in Australia, but it is not yet clear when the updated model will appear on the trading platforms of different countries around the world.

According to the information, the new version of the gaming console weighs 3.6 kilograms and is about 300 grams lighter than the standard PlayStation 5 model. It is currently unknown what changes Sony has made to reduce the weight of the device, as company representatives have not spoken about it. According to Australian media, the stand of the improved version of the PlayStation 5 has a different screw than its predecessor, which can be turned with bare hands without the help of a special tool. As it turns out, Sony has not made any other significant changes to the game console.

Sony introduced the new generation gaming console PlayStation 5 in June last year. It is equipped with a 4K Blu-ray disc reader, an 8-core AMD Zen 2 processor and a 10.28 teraflops AMD RDNA 2 video card. The GDDR6 standard RAM of the console is 16GB, and the hard disk is an 825GB SSD, the performance of which is 5.5 to 9 gigabytes per second. This helps to load data in a short time and easily process large volumes of information, resulting in a model that is approximately 20 times faster than the PlayStation 4. In addition, the device supports 8K graphics and 3D audio.

It should be noted that the Japanese company plans to make significant changes to PlayStation 5 in 2022. According to Sony representatives, next year it is planned to release an improved model of the game console, which will have a more sophisticated user interface and will be equipped with an M.2 SSD drive.
