Meta Verified - New subscription service announced by Mark Zuckerberg

February 24, 2023

Mark Zuckerberg, the founder of the American technology giant Meta, announces a new subscription service that will allow states and organizations to purchase a blue verification mark to provide additional security measures.

The founder of Meta writes on his personal Facebook page that the service will be launched in Australia and New Zealand for the first time this week. Meta Verified will cost $11.99 for the web browser, and $14.99 for iOS.

Good morning and new product announcement: This week we're launching Meta Verified, a subscription service that allows you to verify your account with a government ID, get a blue badge, additional protection against accounts that claim to be you, and get direct access on customer support. The new feature is about increasing the authenticity and security of our services," wrote Zuckerberg.

It should be noted that the sale of verification tokens became relevant after the acquisition of Twitter by Elon Musk last October.

With the introduction of the new service, the social network will be able to generate additional income, which is especially important in light of the fact that Facebook's ad revenue is decreasing.

Currently, Meta's market capitalization is $448 billion, and it ranks 14th among the world's most valuable companies.
